I think these pencils are lovely. They are soft and creamy. I find them to blend well overall. I gave most every brand of artist grade pencil out there and these colors are stunning. They perform similar to polychromos but are more opaque. Their softness is closest to Prismacolor. They don’t layer as much as say Pablos due to their soft wax texture. Wax bloom is not an issue though due to that firmer lead. I think any pencil collector or artist should have these in their arsenal. The cost is not as high as luminance, or Pablo pencils. Price per pencil in the set is around 1.93 which is cheaper than most artist grade. Obviously prismas are more cost effective as are polychromos in their respective sets. Biggest drawback is open stock is not an option. Hopefully that will change someday.Read full review

They are pricey, but you get enormous bang for your buck. They don't replace Prisma, Poly, Luminance, Lyra, or Irojiten; they blend with them bringing a whole other dimension to them. I haven't been able to blend them together but they are so special and play so well with other brands that I don't care. Imagine your favourite pen coming to life in a pencil. I can't put them down!

You definitely feel the quality before even laying the lead on paper. Amazing colors, easy to layer and blend. If I had to describe... they are like between polys and prismas but much much better! Very pigmented and the leads are not misleading in color. Beautiful!!

These pencils are incredible. They are creamy, vibrant and blend like butter. I am an avid user of Holbeins watercolor (also an amazing product, one of the best watercolors, if not the best, in the world) and I tried out a small set of these in the pastel color arrangement, and my God, I was not expecting the pure butter in the center of these pencils. I had to get all of the colors, and by art supply pricing, this is not the worst pricing and it is worth it for the product. The pastels colors are what you buy this for no doubt, the darker colors are good too, but no other colored pencil I have ever used has the opacity of bright pastel colors like this does, nor the arrangement and amount of pastel colors. You could layer this on black paper and still see the vividness of the color with only some black showing through. These layer and blend with other colored pencils wonderfully, and they layer on top of other media specifically markers, like copics, or watercolor. These are a must have for a colored pencil artist or a mixed media artist, they are truly wonderful.Read full review

I’ve tried nearly all name brand colored pencils. I hesitated to purchase these, even at the horrendous price I knew getting open stock was very difficult at best. On a day I was feeling sorry for myself, I bought them. I’m not an artist, but I love adult coloring books...especially the high end ones done by amazing artists. One such book is Serene by Nick Filbert. He’s a talented artist and his books interesting and very good quality paper. I had colored one page with my FABER CASTELL POLYCHROMOS pencils and it was lovely. The second, I used my new Holbeins. My husband didn’t know I used different pencils and he commented on how much more vibrant the Holbein clolred page was. I’ve already ordered thev100 box to fill in my used up pencils. This is going to be a very expensive addiction.
